A lazy kate is a piece of equipment that holds the bobbins full of singles that you want to ply together. They can be designed to hold spinning wheel bobbins or drop spindles. This one is for drop or hand spindles. The kate will hold two or three spindles so that you can two ply or three ply as you wish. I have had this lazy kate for quite a while and am not sure where it came from. It could be one of Ken Ledbetter's creations since I bought many wonderful hand spindles from Ken. I seem to remember this kate came with several additional shafts to allow you to use any diameter spindle shaft but if that's true, those extra shafts are long gone. Between the arthritis in my hands and the lack of space in my new studio, this lovely lazy kate needs to find a new home.
