Tour de Fleece 2025

The Tour de France starts tomorrow, July 5th 2025. Along with that, spinners across the country will be starting our own Tour de Fleece. The idea is for us to spin every day the bicycle riders ride and that we do new or more difficult spinning on the days the riders work the hardest. It's a great idea to get us, meaning me, spinning. July is a hot month here along the Texas Gulf Coast and having something specific to to indoors that is creative and productive is a really good thing. Of course, that doesn't mean we can't spin outside if the weather permits.

The Tour de France starts on July 5th in Lille Métropole in the northeast of France and finish at the Champs-Élysées in Paris on July 27th. That is 23 days of riding on flat land, hilly land and in the mountains. The riders get two rest days along the way. Interestingly, the route is not continuous

In complete honesty, I've never finished more than a week of spinning during the Tour de Fleece. Some years it's only been 3 or 4 days. I get diverted and loose my focus and my motivation. This year I'm trying something a little bit different. I'm going to go back and spin flax - certainly not for the entire 23 days but I hope it will keep me more motivated. I haven't spun flax in quite a while so it will be slightly new and certainly a good reminder.
