Liendo Plantation Civil War Reenactment

This coming weekend is Civil War weekend at Liendo Plantation in Hempstead, TX.  Friday is open to school groups who come to study the history of life in Civil War times.  Saturday and Sunday are open to everyone.

 

The weather this weekend is supposed to be nothing less than stunning. Cool in the mornings (40's and 50's) but warming up nicely into the 60's and 70's with plenty of sun.

 

Peggy and I will be there on Sunday but there will be plenty of people to talk to you about spinning and weaving whether we are there or not.  You can visit the encampments, stroll through the sutlers tents and see what's for sale, sit in the stands to see the battle, eat at the many food vendor tents and shop for all sorts of fun gifts.  There will be a fashion show of Civil War era dresses and a wedding to watch.  Be sure to buy some raffle tickets for a wonderful homemade quilt.  There is lots of room for the kids to run and lots of history to watch!
