Keeping Busy

Not being able to walk does have its occasional perk.  No one is likely to tell me to get up and go feed the animals rather than continuing to sit here and knit.  And that's what I'm spending lots of time doing these days.

I bought some great new yarn from Purl Soho.  It's a cotton core that is wrapped with linen thread and I bought a bundle that is 5 skeins in different but coordinated colors.  It's a bit bumpy and stiff so it's perfect for dish cloths which is one of the things I'm currently working on.  For my first one I followed their directions and ended up with a cloth that is about 10" by 15" and a loop at one corner.  While the loop would be perfect for a dish towel it's less useful for a dish cloth.  Those are generally wet and I don't have an appropriate hook for a wet cloth in my kitchen.  And 10" by 15" is a pretty large dish cloth.

The second one I knitted is much smaller, more like 10" by 8" with no loop.  But the texture would be perfect for a dish towels so that's what I'm working on now.  My plan is 10" by 20" with that great loop.

I've also finished warping the last two Cricket looms for our weaving class at the end of June.  I think I have a range of colors, fibers, widths and grist so everyone can see what the Cricket looms can do.  The class will be fun!
