Indigo Dye Day
We have been talking about this for a while and finally decided we just need to set the date. So here it is:
You will receive two skeins of yarn and several cotton or linen fabric squares to play with in the indigo vat. You can also bring one item, like a t-shirt or a skein of yarn, to toss in the vat at the end of the day.
We will start up the indigo vat early in the morning and have it ready to go when you get here. Come on out to the studio and try out indigo dyeing. Indigo is an amazing dye that works just as well on cellulose fibers like cotton and linen as it does on protein fibers like mohair, wool and silk. After a dip in the vat, your yarn comes out green and turns to that favorite indigo blue as you watch is oxidize in the air. No experience is needed.
The workshop lasts one day, from 9 am to 4 pm and includes lunch. No children, please.
We are planning another Indigo Workshop for the spring so don't worry if this one is coming up too quickly for you to get on your calendar.
