Super Bowl Sunday
I feel the need to state this boldly up front. I am not a football fan. There. I've said it out loud in front of God and everyone. Here I sit in the middle of the biggest football obsessed state in the country and I am not a football fan. I grew up in the Chicago area so when the Bears play I'm always for them. For the last 30 years I've lived in the Houston area so when the Texans play I'm always for them. If those two teams every play each other I guess I'd have to root for the Bears. Do they ever play each other? I don't know. Are they in the same conference? League? Division? I know that the AFL doesn't exist anymore. At least I think that's true.
I know that tonight's game will be between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers. I think. At least on CBS Sunday Morning this morning Mo Rocca did a segment on the broncos and the panthers - the real animals, not the teams. Like I said, I'm not much of a fan of the sport. My husband is, however, and our tickets to a play at the Alley Theatre this afternoon have been turned back to the theater because there is no getting him away from the television set. I'm OK with that. It means I'm having the best Super Bowl Sunday possible.
The sun is shining and there is a cool breeze. I'm in the studio finishing up all the chores attendant to returning from a show. I just finished unloading the trailer and I'm working to get everything - all our tools and fiber and yarn and finished goods - back where they belong. I've got music going and the coffee is on. The doors and windows are open so I can appreciate the cool weather and the breeze. What could be better? When I have everything in the studio organized and put carefully away, I'll hitch up the truck and pull the trailer up to the top of the property where it lives between uses. Then I'll sit down and weave! When I get back to the house later this evening I'll have a wonderful new shawl to work on and there are lots of places to sit where I won't have to watch the game. I'm sure I'll hear parts of it but I think I can block that out.
For all the football fans out there - I hope it's a great game! For everyone like me - come on out and sit for a while. We can spin or knit or weave or just chat and enjoy this glorious day!
