Marigolds

It's time for spring planting.  At least it's time for spring planting here not too far from the Gulf Coast of Texas.  Like most of the country, we continue to have unseasonably cool weather, but it's almost April and it's time to get some things in the ground.  It's still too cool for planting cotton but the marigolds are in the ground!

Like all things plant related, we have good years and bad years but marigolds are usually great in the garden.  They look lovely, they smell wonderful, they dry easily and they make a great yellow/gold dye. To paraphrase the Blue Bell Ice Cream commercial - we use all we can and we sell the rest.
