I use waffle weave structure quite often with linen. Interestingly, linen doesn't waffle very well because it has no elasticity. Here, used with wonderful naturally colored cotton, is waffle weave at it's best.
The yarn comes from Guatemala and is dyed there also. The colors are dark and light cochineal = purple, dark and light indigo = blue, osage orange + indigo = green, madder = orange, osage orange = yellow. It's quite a pallet of colors!
Note: These towels were set on the loom with wider stripes of colors at the left edge feathering to very thin stripes of color on the right edge. The color designations refer to a wide horizontal stripe of color woven into the towel.
