Southdown sheep are found all over the world these days but they originated on the Downs of southern England over 200 years ago.  They are a smallish sheep bred originally for their meat.  The fiber is short, 2-3", and soft with a micron count of 23-28.

Fiber Content - 100% Southdown Wool

Knitting Details - 2 Ply, 5-6 Stitches/Inch, Needle Size 4-6

Skein Length - 246 Yards

Skein Weight - 2.3 Ounces

Care Instructions - Hand wash in warm water; lay flat to dry.

Our yarn is wound into hanks. If you would like us to wind the yarn into balls for easier knitting or weaving, please let us know. We are happy to provide this service at no charge. Please note this may require cutting the yarn if the hank has too many yards to be wound into a single ball.
